Job Description
An excellent opportunity to become part of this friendly and collaborative business who is ideally from a construction or architectural background. This a great opportunity for a CAD team coordinator to join their commercial consultancy team in their London office. They have a team of CAD, Revit, BIM and Geomatics technicians who you will work closely with to ensure efficient and effective delivery to the wider business, taking the time to understand department needs and continually looking to improve efficiency, and will be involved in hands on delivery too.
You will be part of a growing consultancy, supporting commercial building consultancy work for a multi-disciplinary business including project management, building surveying, sustainability, cost consultancy and M&E. They have a national client base including commercial, office, retail, education, and housing sectors.
Key Accountabilities:
Coordinate the CAD team and the work being delivered using a workload tracker.
Understand the work requests coming into the team and allocate accordingly.
Manage the workload being sent to external consultants and understanding where this can be reduced/in house skills be developed.
Collaborate with the wider service lines across the business. Assist colleagues with technical support and advice.
Design, develop and produce detailed drawings using AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit and BIM
High level capability in supporting building consultancy teams
General 2D and 3D drawing requirements for refurbishment
Experience of producing M&E work and understanding of building services engineering principles would be an advantage
Experience using MBS Software for BRE Daylight and Sunlight or Rights of Light analysis would be an advantage, but not essential.
Experience working with point clouds in AutoCAD and/or producing measured building surveys would be an advantage, but not essential.
Experience in MEP CAD/Revit design would be an advantage, but not essential.
Responsive to both short turnaround work and major schemes from any office
Ensure all work complies with regulatory and industry standards, and in line with client needs
Keeping up to date with latest building regulations, associated legislation, new materials and sustainable development issues
Requirements
Skills:
HNC Building or equivalent would be an advantage
Strong construction knowledge is essential as well as building regulations knowledge. Hands on technical knowledge.
3 years’ independent experience in a UK professional commercial practice to provide a wider business need understanding
Methodical, well organised approach to meeting tight deadlines for fast turnaround work
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Confident and communicator able to discuss workload and projects with colleagues across the business, both face to face and on the phone.
Enthusiastic and driven to support the technical team
Person Specification:
Aspiration to work towards MCIBSE or keen to do so (full support will be given)
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people of all levels and seniority
A flexible approach to work with a willingness to travel
Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Ability to prioritise and act on own initiative, working independently with guidance from line management
Excellent organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail
Commercial awareness and desire to be client facing
